Hello Reader When you go food shopping, you will often see the organic produce right next to the non-organic produce. It often looks similar, however, the price is anything but close to one another. Therefore, do you ever wonder if organic food is worth the price? Would you believe me if I said that food was intelligent? The quality of food impacts how we feel. Food is intelligent because, in addition to how it makes us feel, different foods have different healing benefits. Have you heard about water messages and how water molecules literally change based on the words written on the water bottle? Check out the excerpt from the movie What the Bleep Do We Know. If you haven't seen it, it’s definitely worth a watch. Since the movie, a lot more research has been conducted on how water molecules change based on energy and words. Now, let's discuss the famous Dirty Dozen in relation to food. Fresh produce can come with added pesticides. Just because it's not labelled doesn’t mean it’s not there. The Dirty Dozen is a list of fruits and vegetables that you should buy organic whenever possible. The Pesticide Action Network UK releases a list based on government data, identifying produce most likely to contain multiple pesticide residues. Here is the latest UK Dirty Dozen list:
This list highlights the produce most likely to be contaminated with multiple pesticide residues, making organic choices particularly important for these items. Strawberries have been number one for many years! The key takeaway here is to buy as much organic as possible (assuming you have the budget for it!). The long-term effects of pesticides are still unknown, but what science does know is that, in the short term, some pesticides have been linked to hyperactivity in children. Some are even carcinogenic but approved to be consumed in small amounts. 😮 What do you think about organic food? Do you think it tastes better? There are certain items I always buy organic, such as dairy products—especially milk—fruits whenever possible, and carrots. My kids only like organic carrots—they actually taste nicer! But even then, for everything on the list above, we tend to buy organic when it's available. Yes, it costs more, but I feel that anything healthier for the body is worth the cost. Of course, if money is a factor, that’s okay. Pick your battles—buy organic when you can, and if you cannot, then that’s fine too. It’s not worth the stress. Stress is not good for health either. Nevertheless, whether or not you buy organic, always ensure to wash your produce thoroughly. Spread the word. Save this email and refer back to it. Share this with others and help people live healthier lives by simply choosing organic food when possible. Your food choices do matter. Hello Reader Earlier this week, I took part in a drug and alcohol training session for health care practitioners to learn more about its use and misuse. One message really stood out: there is no safe level of drinking. That’s because when it comes to alcohol, you never truly know what damage might be happening behind the scenes. If you know me, you know that I am not a particular fan of alcohol. I do not drink much and this is purely a personal choice, one that has often raised eyebrows,...

Hello Reader Have you ever wondered why certain foods make you feel great, while others seem to leave you bloated, tired, or sluggish? In Ayurveda, the digestive system is considered to be the foundation of health, and the ancient wisdom surrounding it is incredibly powerful. One of the core principles in Ayurveda is the idea of Agni – your digestive fire. When your Agni is strong, your digestion is efficient and therefore your body thrives. But when Agni is weak, your gut becomes sluggish,...
