Hello Reader If you follow me on LinkedIn, you may have come across my post about AI (artificial intelligence). This type of intelligence is exactly what the name says - it is artificial and superficial, at least in my opinion. No doubt there is a place for AI, but not when it comes to your wellbeing. Do you remember how health care professionals say "don't trust google" or "dr. google is not always right?" Well, the same goes for AI. Definitely DO NOT trust AI with your health and AI is certainly not always right. I attended a talk recently in which the speaker discussed judgement and accountability. AI lacks empathy, judgement, and accountability. Personally, I think it is scary that medical students are using AI to complete their coursework. I see it with my own nutrition students who are using AI and you can tell. I have seen people who work in the NHS use AI to create work that they actually have no real knowledge about. I have even had people send me responses to emails that are copy and pasted from chatgpt without any editing. How do I know? Well, for starters their email response had both versions of a response that was drafted. And this is all scary! When I was in yoga teacher training nearly 20 years ago, my yoga teacher said that a time will come when people won't even know their own name and their alarm clock will remind them their name when they wake up in the morning. And this is another scary thought of what will happen if AI really does take over. What will genuinely happen to human intelligence? Sure, I do use AI to support some of the work I do (more of the admin bits), but I certainly do not use it with my clients. All my recommendations and how I work is still as if there is no AI. No computer can replace what my brain can do. As my professional judgement is needed to offer the level of expertise that I bring into every nutrition consultation and into the research that I do. If you genuinely want real perspective with real support in helping you achieve your health goals, then get in touch. Hello Reader Now that we have covered the foundation of inflammation and hormones, PCOS, and perimenopause, it is time to cover menopause itself. Menopause is officially marked by a full year without a period and this is where the hormonal landscape shifts permanently. In wellness culture, menopause is often framed purely as an aging issue or something that is challenging to navigate. But the truth is, the way you feel post-menopause comes down to how well you protect your brain, bones, and...
Hello Reader Before I get into today's newsletter, I wanted to mention that my student still needs more people to participate in her survey about how social media influences health perceptions and consumption of Moringa and Matcha drinks among South Asian women living in London. If you meet the eligibility criteria, please do take some time to complete the survey to support her research: Research Participants Needed Now, as a nutritionist, lecturer, and researcher, do you know what really...
Hello Reader Happy Monday! If you have hit your late 30s or are in your 40s and suddenly feel like your body is on fire, waking up with aching joints, sudden brain fog, skin sensitivity, or unexpected anxiety, then you are not losing your mind. You are experiencing the perimenopause flare. For decades, oestrogen acted as your body’s natural, built-in anti-inflammatory shield. As oestrogen levels begin to fluctuate and drop during perimenopause, that shield is pulled away and that can lead to...
